Today’s standardized test preparation, for the SAT in particular, has placed excessive emphasis on test-taking strategy, rather than a student’s skills. This methodology forces students to learn how to take the particular test itself, thus robbing students of those important skills that the test makers might seek to instill. This places the test itself at odds with its intended goals, subverting the entire standardized testing system.
