SAGE is a nurturing environment, where Jaime and William apply the best tactics and techniques to help your child become a better learner. They not only educate your child, but offer concrete ways to tackle problems, and put your child at ease with the concept of SSAT testing. Even when SAGE is no longer needed, your child will find reasons to go back. They’re just that good! – L

The following email was very kindly sent by a parent to several of her friends...
Dear Friends,
If you are on this list it is because you have a child in middle school or high school. As most of you know, this fall my daughter Kate is applying to college and Lauren to high school. At the moment, I am a mini expert in this area. Both girls received tutoring for standardized testing. I want to recommend and promote Sage Educators in Mill Valley. The founders, Jaime and William Heaps, are fantastic tutors and are in their late 20’s so my kids related to them. We just received Lauren’s SSAT results and she did very well and Kate’s SAT’s improved after working with them, although she had prior SAT tutors. Lauren “misses” Jaime and William and is trying to figure out what she needs further tutoring in! I think that is a great endorsement! Please share this information with anyone you know looking for a tutor. You can always call me if you want specifics.
Sage offers homework “help” and single subject tutoring as well. Give Sage a call if you are looking for tutors.
Have a great holiday!
Best,
T

I was a thirteen year old applying to five independent high schools. I participated in a lot of extra curricular work, community service, and I got good grades. I thought I had it made. When the SSATs came around, I hadn't studied at all. I wasn't even thinking I needed to open the book. Then I got the scores back. I did very badly, I was in the very low percentile and I realized that I was doomed. My parents signed me up for Sage Educators. I really didn't want to go, I was done with tests but when I got there I had fun. They were nice and patient and they helped me study. The had two weeks with me and they helped me improve my scores from the very lowest to the top of my class. I was shocked and even today I owe my success to them.

Math has never been a strong point for me academically, but I was really struggling with my Algebra 2 class. Once I started getting tutored by William, I saw a change in my math class. Instead of dreading going to the class, I was excited to show off what I had learned. William really knows how to explain all the textbook language so that the concept is clear. With his help, I was able to master all the concepts and even help my friends understand. William is an excellent teacher and he is very helpful when it comes to creating opportunities to practice new material we covered. He really made the difference and made my Algebra 2 experience much easier!
Sincerely,
Jen D.

To whom it may concern,
My family has been the fortunate recipients of the services offered by Jaime Heaps and William Heaps, of Sage Educators. They provide expert tutorial services. Both my high school daughter and my elementary school son were able to work one on one with this dynamic team and achieve great results.
My daughter, faced her critical Junior year, and a tough Math challenge. Her strong suit has never been Math, but this year presented a greater challenge. Her teacher was new to the school system, not familiar with the course material, and tough to follow in class. After the first interim grade, we contacted William and arranged to have him come and work with Hannah on a weekly basis. The results were dramatic. Not only did Hannah understand the concepts the way William explained them, he made sure they were cemented in by having her demonstrate to him that she understood. The impact on Hannah was obvious when report cards came out. She was able to make significant improvement in her Algebra 2 grade, and that gave her the confidence she lacked when faced with her initial math challenges. I think if you asked Hannah what she thought of William, she would say that he was awesome. Not only is he nice, patient, and young enough to relate to her, but he also was thoughtful, diligent and insistent upon her mastering this subject material. Hannah and I were both impressed when William called after tests to see how she did, and spent extra time with her when he knew she had SOL's or AP exams coming up. He went beyond the role of tutor, and became an auxiliary member of our household last year. We are so thankful!
My son, a 6th grader, about to enter into the mysterious world of middle school and beyond, was in a tough place. He is smart, but not always focused. Able to get decent grades without a lot of extra studying. These habits (or lack of them) don't present much of a problem in the lower grades, but certainly create drama when they continue in the upper grades. I wanted, no, needed, to make sure that Sam had the right tools in his tool belt to do well in school when the subject matter became more challenging. We asked Jaime to come in and work with Sam on developing good study habits and devising a method that he could follow to keep him on task. What I appreciated most about Jaime is her ability to talk to Sam in a way that he respected and understood that she meant business. At the same time, they were having a good time, and laughing about silly things together. She was able to get to him to take something he previously was overwhelmed by, such as a large multi-media project on architecture and parse it into smaller more achievable, less overwhelming tasks. The end result? A positive learning experience for him, peace at home, and tools and resources he can carry forward in his educational career, and the true measure of success, higher grades. We were quite pleased with Jaime's impact on Sam.
We wholeheartedly endorse the services provided by this great young team of educators at Sage Educators. They are enthusiastic, connected to their field, resourceful, dedicated to their task at hand, and treat your kids like they are one of their own family.
Regards,
Julie and Jeff Bryan |
